
Tafseer and Qur'anic Sciences
This course offers an in-depth study of the Noble Qurâan, examined verse by verse with careful attention to its linguistic structure, rhetorical beauty, and thematic coherence. Students will engage with classical and contemporary approaches to tafseer while also exploring how the Qurâan addresses questions of spirituality, philosophy, and comparative religion.
Alongside direct commentary, the course will introduce the foundational disciplines of âUlĆ«m al-Qurâanâthe sciences of The Qurâanâincluding topics such as the circumstances of revelation (asbÄb an-nuzĆ«l), abrogation (naskh), modes of recitation (qirÄÊŸÄt), preservation and compilation, and the principles of interpretation.
By the end of the course, students will gain the tools to approach the Qurâan with greater depth, clarity, and reverence, learning not only how to understand its meanings but also how to apply its guidance.
